Club Competition Success
Our very own Ria Bright was the first Evaluation Contestant, followed by Brett
Bellbooth, Rose Oosthuysen and Lynne Froggatt. It was interesting to watch the
different evaluation styles, yet they all seemed to arrive at the same recommendations.
Of course our talented representative took top honours and placed first, well done Ria!
Second place went to Roase Oosthuysen. So lets all get behind Ria and
support her at the next level by attending the Division Contest; further information pertaining to this event will follow
at a later date.
We then had a well deserved break, everyone mindful not to eat the "sugar poisoned"
offerings, or at least not to get caught eating them! This was also an opportunity
to mix and mingle.
Then we launched into the International Speech Contest, with Jackie George-Tunicliffe
encouraging us to take risks and stick our necks out as her personal experience demonstrated that something good can come
from the most embarrassing moments in our lives. Lynne Froggatt then moved us
with her heart wrenching tale of her battle with breast cancer. Followed by our
very own Melanie Vezey whose message to everyone was to re-programe ourselves into altering negative thoughts into positive
ones. Then last, but by no means least, was Robin Greaves teaching us that you
never know what's going to happen next! The trophy went to Robin, with Jackie a close second.
All contestants were of such a high calabre that it was hard to elect just one
winner from each catagory, so I am sure we will have success at the next level.
I would also like to thank Mike Preece for attending and offering his support
to our contestants, it was a great day enjoyed by all.
