Recent Events
Humourous Speech Competition 21 July
The humourous speech competition was a great success
and held at Springbank School in Waipapa. Thanks in part to Graeme Kettle's speech at the previous meeting inspiring everyone
to have a go we had a lot of competitors. Tabletopics competitors debated over whether Michael Jackson was a true genius
or a complete freak. Melanie Vezey was our winner proclaiming Michael Jackson was indeed a true genius and gave a fabulous
rendition of 'I'm bad, I'm bad'. A bouyant atmosphere preceeded over drinks and nibbles before heading into the more
formal but hilarious part of the evening. Six competitors had us rolling in laughter as they brought to life stories
from our embarrassing daughters to local masseurs, 'Ugly' the tractor and rules according to man! Mike Preece
won with his tale of international liasons with the Chinese and runner up was Martin Macpherson describing his days
as a professional supermarket shopper. Mike and Melanie go on to represent our club at the regional competitions
to be held in Whangarei 26 September.
